I Think I Love You a humorous romantic mystery edition by Stephanie Bond Romance eBooks

On the plus side this book is pretty funny, the characters are well developed, the plot complicated and intriguing. On a scale of 1 to 10 it's a 7 for an enjoyable read. But...

I found this book in the category "Romantic Comedy" and though the writing style is comedic the book is full of lots of tragedy. The romance is pretty much non-existent. But the most frustrating thing of all is that this book is not part of a series, it's a serial. In a series the storyline is completed by the end of the book with some of the characters moving on to the next book. In this book nothing is resolved in the first book and you are left hanging. The bad news is that by book 7 you are still left hanging. So far I have spent $50 on Body Movers books and I have no resolution to anything.

I Think I Love You a humorous romantic mystery edition by Stephanie Bond Romance eBooks Reviews

I've been reading Ms. Bond since her first book nearly twenty years, and I often find myself re-reading them. I still have my original paperback of this book when it was first released by Avon. I'm so glad to see Ms. Bond getting the rights back and re-releasing the books I love. I was in the middle of a 1200-mile move with nothing fun to read when In Deep Voodoo popped up as a deal. There's a certain comfort in re-reading a favorite when you're totally stressed.

In Deep Voodoo is the story of recent divorcee Penny Francisco. She's fighting the town of Mojo's city hall (her ex-mother-in-law), her ex's new girlfriend is painting the Victorian Penny lovingly restored Pepto-Bismal pink, and she's got some pretty deep, dark secrets herself. When her friend Marie throws Penny a party to celebrate her new singlehood, it seems like a terrific idea, especially when she meets hunky BJ at the local drinking hole. A little rebound fling never hurt anybody, right?

But Penny's party is in the middle of Mojo's annual voodoo festival. And among the anonymous gifts is a voodoo doll of her ex. Cheered on by her friends, Penny stabs the doll. Unfortunately, someone thinks it's a good idea to do the same to her jerk of an ex-husband.

Fair warning this is a cross-genre novel, comedy-romance-mystery which is what Ms. Bond is known for. If you can't handle crossing the streams, this isn't for you. This book was also meant to be the first of a series with an ongoing plot, so many of the mystery elements aren't wrapped up in this volume. However, the romance is.

Penny is the type of woman I can't help but like. She's made her mistakes, she's survived an ugly past, and she's tried to grow from them. This story is about her reaching her turning point in life--cutting the crap and taking chances. This is undoubtedly her journey, and because it is, we don't know as much about BJ and what really motivates him. I think that's my one and only gripe about this book. I'd like to know him a little better, even if he is my hero as the killer of snakes!

Now that Ms. Bond has her rights, I hope she continues this series. It was never meant to stop at two!
There is so much going on yet I was still bored. Between the killings of the debutants, the debt collectors, and the epic **** up who is her brother, the book is really just a frustrating read. The plot line with the parents disappearance is never revealed but a teaser was the last line of the book, and at this point, I’ve lost interest. Also a teaser about Wesley getting the familiar itch of gambling with the wad of money in his hands just made me NOT want to read more of his idiocy.
I really, really wanted to love this one. I had heard that it was hysterical and I had read one other Stephanie Bond book that I liked a lot. I was also excited because the Atlanta setting since I lived there up until last year. At the end of the day I think this was the only thing I really enjoyed, that coming home feeling when you read about familiar places.

Overall, it just didn't work for me. Carlotta was alright, but I didn't connect with her and I really wanted her to back off and let her brother learn from his own mistakes. I don't think you ever succeed if someone never lets you learn how to fail. I found it very irritating the way she was with him. I liked a few of the minor characters a lot so the story wasn't a total loss, but I am not really sold on the series.
The cover art and the title caught my attention and I'm so glad it did. This book was so cute and what a mystery! I had no clue who killed Penny's exhusband and was surprised by the ending. The author did a great job of creating a world with zany, complex characters you want to revisit. The heroine was so endearing and you rooted for her from the very first page. And BJ Beaumont was absolutely DELICIOUS. Although the main mystery was completely resolved with no loose ends there were a few smaller mysteries left open that lead me to believe we'll be able to keep visiting Mojo and visiting with Penny and her ragtag group of friends and coworkers. I for one will be grabbing up the rest of the series to do just that!
Picked this book up when it was available for free, and wow, it’s one of the best I’ve grabbed from the Top 100 Free books. A romance? Well there is definitely attraction and it does end as a romance, but that’s not really the focus of the story. I guess you’d say it was more of comedic mystery.

Jolie believes she’s got to be at the lowest point in her life. Someone had stolen her car, she’s reported that her boyfriend is missing and had quit her job at a real estate agency after she’d been asked to play a part in a shady deal. She’s now working part time selling shoes at Nieman Marcus until she can get enough money together to get her own real estate agency off the ground. But things manage to get even worse, and yet funnier. A co-worker talks her into joining her at an exclusive party and doesn’t find out until she’s there, that they crashed the party.

The antics are both somewhat outrageous as well as humorous as Jolie looks for answers about her boyfriend and becomes a suspect in a murder. I loved most of the characters and how they respond to situations. And the mystery is nicely twisted. Many mysteries have clues or situations that are red herrings. In this one each has importance and there is more than one mystery taking place.

A fun romp if you want an escape from reality.
